The Most Trusted Mover In Frederick
Local & Long Distance Moves

Local and Long Distance

Frederick Moving Company can handle your move around the corner or Chicago or Miami with the same level of care.  Be aware, however, that local and long distance moves are regulated and priced differently.

Local Moves  (Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area)

Local moves are customized according to your needs and can be charged by the hour or a flat rate can be negotiated. The rate depends on the number of movers and the number of trucks required for your move.  We will discuss the most effective pricing when we meet with you to estimate your move.  The time charged includes travel to the move site, unless otherwise specified in the estimate.

If you need packing services, that will be charged by an hourly rate. Packing materials, such as tapes, or boxes, are charged based on actual usage. We do not charge extra for the use of moving pads.

Standard moving insurance of $0.60 per pound per article is included in the price. Additional insurance can be secured if you so desire.

Long Distance Moves  (Interstate)

Long distance moves can be priced according to weight or a flat rate can be negotiated.  The Frederick Moving Company will meet with you to estimate the move and provide you options that are customized to your needs. Packing is charged by the  hour.  Packing materials will be charged according to actual usage.

If you feel as though you may have more or less boxes on the move day than our estimate, please bring this to our attention so we can recalculate your estimate and make the proper arrangements for your move.

Standard insurance of $0.60 per pound per article is included in the price. Additional insurance can be secured.

Moving Tips

Boxes You Pack

Make sure that all boxes are secure, taped on top and bottom.  Mark the location where the box needs to be unpacked (i.e. Master Bedroom) on the side of each box.  Use tissue, plastic bags or bubble wrap for items such as lamp shades or other items.  Do not use newspaper as the ink can leave marks which may not be removable.  When packing fragile items separate each item and cushion well with tissue.  Pack the heaviest items on the bottom and mark FRAGILE on the top and side of the boxes.

Dressers and Drawers

Depending upon the move, dresser and bureau drawers, as well as filing cabinets may need to be emptied prior to the move.

All electronics equipment (regardless of who is to pack it) must be disconnected by you or an expert in the field.

Office Equipment

Copy machines need to be serviced prior to the move. Toner, especially liquid, must be completely removed.

Refrigerators and freezers need to be completely emptied and defrosted prior to the move.  Washers and dryers need to be disconnected and drained.

All valuables should be kept and transported by the customer.  Valuables include jewelry, watches, money, legal documents, stamp collections and such.

Do not pack any liquids in packing boxes.  Due to changes in temperatures and pressure of move they can spill and destroy the contents in that and surrounding boxes.

Combustible or Flammables

Movers are prohibited from taking anything combustible or flammable on the moving truck. This includes aerosol cans, propane, gasoline, and combustible materials that may be found in certain cleaners, paints, and industrial chemicals. These items usually have warning labels. We move lawn mowers, snow blowers, gas grilles, and, in general, small motorized equipment. However, flammable and combustible fuels have to be drained and/or removed.

By law, we cannot transport plants over state lines.
